What is the UCP position regarding the Proforma invoice attached with the LC application, is it a must?
Also, if no clear information on the LC application, say for example the applicant handwriting is bad, can I refer to the Proforma invoice, but, what if after documents are received the documents are discrepant because we followed the proforma invoice and not what is written on the LC application!
what is your practice in this please?
L/C application
The L/C application has nothing to do with UCP - it is a request to issue from the applicant to their bank. The issuing bank must ensure that the details they include on the L/C at time of issuance is in accordance with the applicants request - if they have insufficient details or cannot read the data then they must obtain clarification.
Dear Peter, Still you
Dear Peter,
Still you didnt answer my question, what did professsional say about proforma invoice?
Pro-Forma
Hi Warlord - I am unclear as to exactly what you are asking here. A Pro-forma invoice is a form of offer letter that states basic sales terms and can be used as an indication/offer or short-form contract. It has no value and is not legally binding.
Does that answer your query?
