Insurance Policy

Hi LC experts The party has issued a proforma LC for our perusal before entering into the trade with us. As per code 46A the party has written in LC which i am mentioning here " Insurance policy/ certificate made out to beneficiary's order and blank endorsed marked 'Premium Paid' covering risks as per ICC (a) incl. risks as per Institute war clause(cargo) and Institute Strikes clause (cargo), Insurance from warehouse to warehouse: original and 2 copies. Please guide me on it because i cant understand this requirement, i am a bit confused. Manish

Dear Friend,

we use a similar wording ,just adding Claims payable in (IMPORT  COUNTRY:

-INSURANCE POLICY/CERTIFICATE IN NEGOTIABLE FORM COVERING GOODS FROM WAREHOUSE TO WAREHOUSE AGAINST ALL RISKS AS PER INSTITUTE CARGO CLAUSE(ICC) "A" , WAR RISKS AS PER INSTITUTE WAR CLAUSE AND STRIKES RIOTS AND CIVIL COMMOTIONS AS PER INSTITUTE SRCC CLAUSE, FOR 110 % of CIF INVOICE VALUE, WITH CLAIMS PAYABLE IN .......(IMPORT COUNTRY).-

____

Institute Cargo Clauses " A " dd 01.01.1982

Institute War Clauses  dd 01.01.1982

Institute Strikes Clause  dd 01.01.1982

are the common clauses used in cargo insurance,

"for 110% of CIF Value" is redundant, but always used, being requested by UCP 600 art 28 f ii, Claims payable in import country is necessary to prepare a damage file for the survey agent and obtain refund by a settling agent located in its own Country.

Hoping to be useful

insurance policy

Dear CiaoThanks for your valuable suggestion.I got your point which you explained. one more thing is there, in my queri there is written " blank endorsed"; i am not getting this technical word, exactly what does it mean?is that same the way we endorse the BL? Please guide

blank endorsed

Hi Friend,

Insurance policy can be endorsed as a bill of lading, in favour of a named company or person, or to the bearer, without indicating  the endorsee, in this case endorsement is in blank.
