Hi, how your guys usually examine the house B/L, considering the issuing bank only asks for stating freight collect?
Are these regulations and principles such as, on board notation, specifying name of carrier and agent on behalf of carrier not really applied for house B/L?
Well, if in normal way of examining bill of lading, this house bill in front of me is like a piece of crap..
Sorry for my language, but no offence. : )
House B/L
Freight forwarders book shipments to airlines as their Customers. Do they act as agent of carrier under any capacity?

HOUSE B/L
quoted in '' the guide to Documentary Credit'' by Gary Collyer as follows:
'' when freight forwarder act as contractual carrier on airshipment shipments, they sometimes group together the goods received from several different shippers and obtain a single air waybill from the air carrier covering the full loading being shipped. this docs is often referred to as the ''master air waybill ''. it is issued in favour of the forwarding companyand not in favour of the individual shippers.
the forwarder then issues its own separate air waybills in favour of each of the shippers concerned. a forwarder's air waybill of this type is often reffered to as a '' house air waybill''. for purposes of identification, the forwarder's air waybill may then indicate a number referred to in the documents as HAWB no. for internal administrative purpose, the document may also indicate a MAWB no.(ie the no. given by the air carrier to the relevant master air waybill). the fact that a document is a house air waybill does not prejudice its acceptability, provided that the forwarding agent issuing it appears to be named as the carrier, or agent of a named carrier, on the face of the document and that the air waybill has been signed in one of the way stipulated in ucp600, article 23. therefore, an air waybill not to be rejected only because it indicates a HAWB and/or MAWB no. unless the documentary credit does not allow house air waybills''

in my opinion, the above circumtance of air waybill is the same to that of B/L. So, artiles in ucp relating to bill of lading are also applied for house B/L.
I am looking forward to receiveing other comment on this matter.

Conclusion
When a credit requires or allows the presentation of a "house" bill of lading or air waybill, the document must comply with the terms and conditions of the credit and the requirements of the respective transport article, with the exception that the document may be signed by the freight forwarder in its capacity as freight forwarder and need not show the name of the carrier.
